Having grown up canoeing in the mangroves of Florida, I only recently discovered its intricate history & was inspired to dive deeper and create some art. This historical research evolved into a short exploration of tools like Grease Pencil & Runway to save time in the Animation pipeline. Though it incorporates new tech, I wanted to present this 500-year-old story in a way that felt tangible. The animation depicts a moment from a larger tale involving the native peoples of Florida and the Spanish sailor Juan Ortiz, from the book La Inca De La Florida.
